Hypocrisy exposed: Defeat forces Modi to bow before China at SCO summit
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again exposed the dual face of his government during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to the report, once known for his fiery anti-China rhetoric, Modi today appeared praising Beijing, revealing the hypocrisy in India’s foreign and defence policies.
In the past, Modi frequently hurled verbal threats against China, portraying himself as a defender of India’s borders. However, at the SCO platform, the same Modi was seen lauding China and expressing gratitude toward President Xi Jinping.
Analysts said this stark contrast reflects not only Modi’s political opportunism but also India’s failure on both diplomatic and military fronts.
Indian Deputy Army Chief Lieutenant General Rahul Singh recently admitted that China had provided Pakistan with extensive technical and intelligence support, even delivering real-time updates during critical operations.
This acknowledgement came after India’s humiliating defeat in Operation Sandur, where the Indian military failed to achieve its objectives against Pakistan.
As opposition leader, Modi had been one of China’s harshest critics, vowing at every public gathering to “raise a strong voice” against Beijing. He once even declared:
“Those who cut off the heads of my soldiers—should they be given protocol?”
But the same leader, now in power, is delivering thanks and compliments to China in the heart of Beijing. This astonishing transformation, from roaring threats to diplomatic flattery, underscores what observers call India’s “double standards” and “policy hypocrisy”.
Experts further argue that the Modi government, in pursuit of political survival, has consistently distorted facts to mislead the Indian public. This pattern of misinformation has not only tarnished India’s credibility abroad but also exposed the fragility of its foreign policy.
