Pakistan Bar Council backs Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi's proposal on new administrative units

The Pakistan Bar Council has announced its support for Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi's proposal regarding the creation of new administrative units or additional provinces in the country, describing it as an important step toward institutional reforms and improved governance.

Speaking exclusively to City News Network, Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Bar Council, Pir Masood Chishti, said that administrative reforms have become an urgent necessity under the prevailing circumstances.

He emphasised that the equitable distribution of powers is the true spirit of democracy and that restructuring the administrative framework in line with modern requirements is essential to ensure better public service delivery.

Pir Masood Chishti stated that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has a close understanding of the country's ground realities and administrative challenges. Therefore, his proposal for establishing new administrative units carries significant importance. He added that the minister's suggestion is practical and realistic and deserves serious consideration.

The Vice Chairman further said that the creation of new administrative units would not only facilitate the resolution of public issues but would also lead to improved governance, more effective administrative oversight, and enhanced service delivery. He noted that a stronger and more efficient administrative structure would also help the country address internal challenges, including terrorism.

Pir Masood Chishti reiterated that the Pakistan Bar Council supports reform-oriented initiatives aimed at improving the country's governance system. He said the Council stands behind all measures intended to strengthen state institutions, enhance their performance, and provide greater relief to the public. He reaffirmed the Bar Council's commitment to extending full cooperation for reforms undertaken in the national interest.

Concluding his remarks, Pir Masood Chishti stressed that the time has come to comprehensively review Pakistan's administrative structure so that citizens can receive justice, public services, and better governance at their doorstep.
