For free treatment of cancer patients, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Monday approved the construction of a cancer hospital near Valencia Town in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The newly-elected Punjab CM gave the approval of the project after inspecting the proposed site. During the inspection Maryam was given detailed briefing about the project.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister directed that renowned oncologists should be hired for the treatment of poor patients and latest equipment should be purchased for the hospital which will provide free of cost treatment to the patients.

Moreover, a hotel will also be built to accommodate attendants of the patients.

It is pertinent to mention that due to huge cost on the treatment, cancer patients often made complaints that they were denied entries in private and charity hospitals in provincial capital, therefore, Punjab government on the wishes of masses decided to build a cancer care hospital in Lahore.

Former Senator Pervez Rasheed, Members of provincial assembly Khawaja Salman Rafiq, Khawaja Imran Nazir, Sania Ashiq, Chief Secretary, Secretary C&W, Secretary Co Operative, Commissioner Lahore, DC Lahore and other relevant officials were also present on the occasion.
