Pakistan Met office has predicted stormy rains in Karachi from August 6th to August 11th which could inundate low-lying areas. 

Sindh authorities have imposed Section 144 on the beach side to stop people from swimming in the Sea when torrential rains could havoc the city. 

On Friday (today), hot and humid weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, rain-wind/thundershower is expected at isolated places in Kashmir, upper Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, and north and east Balochistan. Heavy falls are also likely at a few places in lower Sindh and southern Balochistan.

Thursday’s Highest Maximum Temperatures (°C): Dalbandin, Nokkundi 42, Dera Ismail Khan, Chillas, Noorpur Thal, Rohri 41, Jacobabad, and Sukkur 40.

According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in the last 24 hours, 11 deaths were reported due to floods/rains in various incidents.

The total number of deaths due to floods/rains across the country is 549 while the number of injured is 628. None of the injured are in critical condition

As per the NDMA rainfall data, 133% more rainfall across the country than the 30-year average record 

305% more rains in Balochistan, 218% more in Sindh,  101% more rains in Punjab, 26% more in KP, Gilgit-Baltistan received 68% and Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) received 9% more rains than usual.

NDMA said that 46,219 houses were damaged due to floods and rains. 

Rescue/relief operation is continued in flood-affected areas.

From the instructions of the Prime Minister, the distribution of relief checks of 10 lakhs per person to the flood victims continued.

NDMA said that the authority handed over relief goods to SDMA, PDMA Sindh, and Balochistan including relief equipment including tents, tarpaulins, blankets, and mosquito nets.

NDMA also handed over 60 thousand liters of drinking water to PDMA Balochistan on behalf of Nestlé in Quetta, Jhal Magsi, and Jafarabad.

PDMA Balochistan handed over 100 tents to Harnai administration 

Apart from the government relief agencies, there is also a continued delivery of relief goods by humanitarian organizations which have set up medical camps in disaster-affected areas.

NDMA said that water flow in the remaining rivers as normal in all dams is normal. 

Part of the Karakoram Highway was affected at Achar Nala near Dasu Dam. However, the highway has been restored for light traffic.
