Soomro chairs Privatization Commission Board meeting

Federal Minister for Privatization Mohammad Mian Soomro chaired the Privatization Commission (PC) Board meeting, reported 24News HD TV channel on Wednesday.

The meeting discussed the progress regarding the privatization of the national institutions. During the briefing, it was told that the investors interested in Heavy Electrical Complex privatization had been shortlisted while there was swift progress regarding the National Power Parks Management Company’s privatization. 

The minister said that the board was paying special attention to the privatization of power plants. The meeting was briefed regarding the restoration of Pakistan Steel Mills. The auction of Services International Hotel will start after the reconsideration of its price, the meeting was told. Progress regarding the privatization of Jinnah Convention Centre, First Women Bank, and Pak Reinsurance Company was also discussed in the meeting. 

The minister said that the board wanted speedy privatization of the national institutions. He said the board wanted to lessen the burden on the national exchequer through the successful privatization.
