Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi Saturday inspected Jail Road, delving into the ongoing efforts to combat the prevailing smog crisis, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

Accompanied by Lahore Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, DC Rafia Haider, and CEO of Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) Babar Deen, the CM scrutinized the measures taken by the company to alleviate the city's air quality concerns.

Attributing the smog to vehicular traffic and dust particles, Naqvi acknowledged the complexity of the challenge.

Expressing his dismay at the prevalent smog, Naqvi underscored the urgent need to address the air quality issues plaguing Lahore city.

Mohsin Naqvi disclosed that LWMC has targeted 79 roads with high soil content, focusing on key areas to curb dust-related pollution.

The primary objective of the ongoing operation is to tackle pollution hotspots, including Jail Road, Mall Lahore, Shahdara, Lahore Circular Road, and other major roads of the city, he hinted.

He said that the washing process of the targeted roads will be carried out at night, with an emphasis on minimizing vehicular emissions during peak hours.

Naqvi declared his commitment to reducing smog levels in Lahore.

Despite the inconvenience, he clarified that schools cannot be closed, and winter vacations have been advanced to provide relief to students.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister stressed that he would refrain from public statements until the artificial rain initiative materializes.

Naqvi affirmed that work is in progress to initiate 'page working' on 302 roads, anticipating improved traffic flow through patchwork enhancements.
