The so-called third wave of coronavirus has alerted all as all the education ministers will attend the NCOC meeting tomorrow (Wednesday) to discuss the situation, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The NCOC has allowed normalizing the educational activities from March 1 and has also lifted most of the virus restrictions from March 15. However, a rising trend has been seen since then in the coronavirus cases in the country.

Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood said that there is a trend of rising coronavirus cases.

He said all the provincial education ministers would attend tomorrow’s NCOC meeting to further discuss the matter.

However, he said the situation is still not like when it was in November, December last year when the educational institutes faced second closure due to the coronavirus.

He said there was an evident increase in the coronavirus cases since the last week and they would devise their next strategy in tomorrow’s meeting.

It is most likely that the NCOC meeting may recommend once again limiting educational activities with 50 percent attendance.

Meanwhile, the District Health Officer of Islamabad has also voiced his concerns in a letter to the district admission and warned of a strong third wave of coronavirus cases.

In the letter, he wrote that the coronavirus was spreading at an alarming pace and most of the new cases are emerging from the offices and the educational institutes.

He recommended adopting emergency measures to stop this spread as the positivity ration of the virus cases in the Federal Capital has increased to 6 percent from one percent. He wanted the administration to limit the attendance in the educational institutes to 50 percent and the classes should be taken in four-hour shifts.

He also recommended that the schools can hold the classes on the weekly holidays to accommodate all the students in turn.
