Multan shopkeepers fined Rs100,000 each while 266 FIRs lodged in Lahore

Several shopkeepers were fined Rs100,000 each for opening their shops at Sehri time in Multan while 266 FIRs were lodged over violation of the coronavirus SOPs, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

Lahore Police Operations Wing mobilized to ensure complete lockdown and registered 266 cases of violation of SOPs during the last 24 hours (Saturday).

Lahore DIG Sajid Kiani also shared an important announcement that the Punjab government decided to allow inter-district public transport till May 10 (6pm).

“From May 10 from 6 pm to May 15 at 6 am public transport will be banned. The decision was taken at a high-level meeting to review the coronavirus pandemic,” he added. 

He further said that action was taken against 193 persons for not wearing facemasks, 73 cases were registered for violation of other SOPs and 4,333 cases have been registered during the lockdown so far.

DIG Kiani directed his staff to stay in the field to implement complete lockdown guidelines.

Separately in Multan, police took action over violation of the lockdown and sealed 50 business centres and fined shopkeepers Rs100,000 each for opening their shops at Sehri time.

Multan police also arrested two persons and lodged FIR against them.

Multan Assistant Commissioner (City) Khawaja Umair had sealed 21 shops in Cantonment, Gulshan Market and Hussain Agahi while Multan Assistant Commissioner (Sadr) Adnan Badar had sealed 10 big hotels.

On the other hand, Multan AC (Shujaabad) Muhammad Zubair sealed eight shops.

Secretary RTA Rana Mohsin also sealed 13 buses for non-compliance with corona SOPs loaded with more than 50 percent passengers against the government orders. Secretary RTA also imposed a fine of Rs52,000 on transport owners.
