Pakistan celebrates Eid with religious zeal

Eid-ul-Azha is being celebrated Saturday across the country with religious fervor to commemorate the great sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim and Hazrat Ismael (AS).

The day dawned with special prayers in mosques for well-being of the Ummah and progress, prosperity and security of the country.

Eid congregations are being held at mosques, Eidgahs and open places in all cities, towns and villages across the country.

Ulema in their Khutbah of Eid highlighted the significance of the philosophy of great sacrifice offered by Hazrat Ibrahim and Hazrat Ismael (AS).

People are offering sacrifice of animals to follow Sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS).

There was also a relief from hot weather for the people as there was rain reported in many cities while the clouds were hovering over many cities. This made the weather pleasant but also disturbed Eid prayers plans and mostly the people offered Eid prayers in the mosques.

However, political leaders kept the show hot as opposition and government politicians did not let any chance to take a jibe on each other.

President, PM urge caution in Eid messages

President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan have urged the nation to strictly observe precautionary measures on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha and perform the obligatory rituals of Qurbani, taking care of the poor and needy people.

In their separate messages on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha, felicitating the nation, they said this is a day of remembrance of the obedience of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and the reverence of Hazrat Ismael (AS), who set an extraordinary example of sacrifice and selflessness.

The President in his message said coronavirus pandemic has negatively affected the economy, urging people to help the poor and needy in this critical situation.

Prime Minister Imran Khan in his message said the whole world is facing a critical situation right now due to coronavirus as the coronavirus pandemic has become a challenge for all humanity.

He said the government is utilizing its capabilities to deal with the epidemic and the nation should also follow the precautionary measures in this regard.

Political leaders greet nation

Political parties’ leaders around the country offered prayers at their respective towns on Saturday to mark the festival of Eidul Azha.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar offered Eid prayers at Governor House. Prayers were offered for the country’s internal sovereignty and security. Special prayers were also offered for the liberation of Kashmir. After Eid prayers, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and Chaudhry Sarwar greeted Eid with visitors amid SOPs, 24NewsHD TV channel reported.

Sindh Governor Imran Ismail offered Eid-ul-Azha prayers at Governor House mosque. Members of the Provincial Assembly, and Governor House officials and employees offered prayers along with Governor Sindh.

Governor Sindh said, “We need to be cautious during these Eid days. The situation in Pakistan is much better due to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s farsightedness. Today, the whole world is acknowledging the Prime Minister's actions against coronavirus.”

Former President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari while congratulating the nation on the occasion of Eid said, “Eid day teaches us about sacrifice and our religion teaches human compassion and respect for humanity. On this day of happiness, the oppressed Kashmiris should also be remembered who wanted to be liberated from Indian slavery.”

In Peshawar, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mehmood Khan and Governor Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa offered Eid prayers at Governor House.

Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Siraj-ul-Haq led Eid prayers at Eid prayers were offered in Mansoora area in which hundreds of people participated.

Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed after Eid prayers at Lal Haveli and met with the people.

On Eid-ul-Adha, Eid prayers were offered at several places in the twin cities. The largest gathering in the federal capital was held at Faisal Mosque led by Dr. Tahir Hakeem, where citizens as well as women participated. Citizens prayed following precautionary measures.

PPP leader Senator Maula Bakhsh Chandio offered Eid prayers in Hyderabad and later talking to the media prayed May have Allah Almighty reduce the difficulties. He said the tsunami of inflation has come as Imran Khan has become a failed Prime Minister. “Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is following the MQM attitude in Karachi.”

Punjab Minister Religious Affairs Syed Saeedul Hassan Shah offered Eid prayers in his constituency, Narowal amid SOPs. He extended Eid greetings and offered special prayers for the independence of Kashmir.
