PML-N will form govt in AJK, says Attaullah Tarar

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will form the next government in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), saying the party has gained a clear lead in the first phase of the Kashmir elections.

Addressing a ceremony in Lahore, Tarar said that PML-N candidates had won in the Mirpur division and praised party workers for running a vigorous election campaign. He said the politics of service, construction and development remained the PML-N's motto, adding that every era of the party had been a period of progress.

The information minister said Kashmir witnessed significant development during the tenure of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif initiated mega projects, including Danish Schools, in the region. He said the ancestors of Kashmiris had made immense sacrifices and the PML-N had always raised its voice for the Kashmir cause and taken practical steps for it.

Tarar added that Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had strongly advocated the Kashmir issue at every international forum, including the United Nations. Commenting on the election campaign, he said the voice of the PML-N was being heard everywhere in Kashmir and, God willing, the next government in Azad Jammu and Kashmir would be formed by the party.

He said every political party had the right to do politics, but no one could compete with the PML-N in the field of public service. He criticised those who, he said, raised questions over refugee seats, saying that whether the elections were held on refugee seats or general seats of Jammu and Kashmir, the PML-N would gain a clear advantage.
