Polling arrangements completed for AJK refugee seat in KP

The Election Commission has completed arrangements for polling on one seat reserved for Kashmiri refugees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with voting scheduled for August 2 on constituency LA-45 Valley-6.

According to the Election Commission spokesperson, a total of 7,655 registered voters will exercise their right to vote in the election. The electorate includes 4,121 male voters and 3,534 female voters.

A total of 41 polling stations have been established for the election, including five male polling stations, 10 female polling stations and 26 joint polling stations. As many as 70 polling booths will be set up, including 33 for men and 37 for women.

In Peshawar, two polling stations have been established for 1,520 registered voters. The male polling station has been set up at Government Shaheed Usama Zafar Sentinel Model High School No. 2, Peshawar City, while the female polling station has been established at Government Shaheed Hasnain Sharif Higher Secondary School No. 1, Peshawar City.

The Election Commission spokesperson said seven candidates are contesting the election.

Khawaja Muhammad Dilawarwani is the joint candidate of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. Other candidates include Abdul Hameed Butt from Jamaat-e-Islami, Abdul Majid Khan from the Pakistan Peoples Party and Mirza Khalil-ur-Rehman Baig from the Jammu Kashmir United Movement.

Independent candidates in the election include Bashir Ahmed Khan, Muhammad Zaryab and Muhammad Fayyaz.
