MQM-Pakistan and Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) has reached a consensus on a new census. A committee has been constituted under Aminul Haq to prepare recommendations.
MQM-Pakistan is of the view that the population count helps better public service delivery. The meeting also considered having joint candidates in the by-elections for three vacant Sindh Assembly seats.
Firdous Shamim Naqvi of PTI declared the 2017 census invalid. He vowed to play his part in protecting public rights by holding a fair population count.
Earlier, PPP leaders visited the MQM-P Office to discuss matters of mutual interests including current political situation and Senate elections.
The MQM-Pakistan raised concerns at the federal cabinet’s approval of 2017 census and decided to send the report to the Council of Common Interests to get its final nod with consensus among the provinces.
The MQM-P submitted a dissenting note rejecting the census results and stating that the party would not accept delimitations under this census.
