Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce may become Netflix’s next power couple
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce could soon be the newest star couple to dominate Netflix, following in the footsteps of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The pop icon, 35, and the NFL star, also 35, announced their engagement on August 26 with a romantic Instagram carousel showing Kelce down on one knee in a rose-filled garden. The post, set to Swift’s song So High School, quickly went viral, racking up more than a million reposts.
Now, according to The Sun, Netflix is reportedly eager to secure the couple for a big-budget documentary, with the highlight expected to be their wedding.
“The streaming giant has told them that there is a substantial budget for a Taylor and Travis documentary,” an insider revealed. “The wedding will be a huge moment, and Netflix wants to be at the forefront of that. It is also planning a bid for exclusive access to the wedding.”
The report comes at a time when Netflix has been doubling down on celebrity-driven content. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently signed a new multi-year, first-look deal with the platform after their original contract was downgraded. Meghan’s With Love, Meghan's lifestyle series, though panned by critics, still managed to land in Netflix’s global Top 10.
For Swift, working with Netflix wouldn’t be new. She previously partnered with the streamer on her acclaimed 2020 documentary Miss Americana, which gave fans an intimate look at her career and personal life. Her record-breaking Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film also became a global sensation, grossing more than $261 million worldwide.
Kelce, meanwhile, has been testing the waters in Hollywood. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end recently made a cameo in Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore 2, currently in production for Netflix. He is also reportedly exploring a comedy project inspired by Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Since their engagement, Swift and Kelce’s relationship has been the subject of intense speculation. The Grammy winner has already teased her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgir,l during an appearance on Kelce’s podcast The Heights, which set a record with 1.3 million concurrent viewers on YouTube.
The couple’s chemistry and global fan base make them a prime target for streaming platforms. For Netflix, a wedding documentary featuring Swift — one of the most influential music stars of her generation — and Kelce, one of the NFL’s biggest names, could be ratings gold.
