The National Savings Centre notified on Thursday an increase in profit rate for national saving schemes.

The rate for pension benefit account surged from 9.84 percent to 9.96 percent, defence savings from 8.05 percent to 8.11 percent and welfare savings from 9.84 percent to 9.96 percent with effect from today.

The government also extended the date for getting Rs40,000 prize bonds cashed to December 31.
