Wheat crisis due to climate change, warn experts

The fear of wheat shortages intensify as due to climate changes and drought, the production of wheat could be affected by 15 per cent, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
According to details, people associated with the field of agriculture have shared alarming stats.
Agricultural scientist Hamad Tanveer Kamboh warned Pakistan is top on the list of the countries, which are affected with climate change, adding that there is a dire need to cope with challenges from the changing climate.
According to the situation so far, there has been less damage in the early crops, while the late crop is affected by 15 to 20 per cent.
Hamad Tanveer said due to heat during harvesting and the scarcity of fertilizer during planting, they could not meet the target and now wheat is being imported.
According to agricultural experts, the wheat crisis could be prevailed for longer period, adding that for which on the basis of emergency, measures must be taken.
