Pakistan elect to bowl first in second Australia one-dayer

Pakistan have again won the toss and elected to bowl first in the second one-day international against Australia being played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Tuesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

After winning the toss, captain Shaheen Shah Afridi said they were going in with an unchanged side while the Australians have made one change with Adam Zampa replacing Billy Stanlake.

Pakistan sought to seal the three-match series today after winning the first one-dayer in Rawalpindi by five wickets.

Pakistan will take on Australia in the second game of the three-match one day international series (ODIs) at Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore today, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

Pakistan, which is already one-up in the series after outclassing the visitors by five wickets in the opening match, which was played in Rawalpindi, is looking to seal the series.

The opener on May 30 belonged to Arafat Minhas, a 21-year-old left-arm spinner, who took 5 for 32, becoming the first Pakistani bowler to claim a five-wicket haul on debut in the format.

Australia were bowled out for 200, with Matt Renshaw top-scoring on 61 and Matthew Short making 55, and never built the platform their middle order needed.

The chase was calmer than the target suggested.

Babar Azam made 69 and shared a stand of 127 with wicketkeeper-batter Ghazi Ghori, who finished with 65.

Pakistan got home with 45 balls to spare for the loss of five wickets. Nathan Ellis was the pick of the Australian bowlers with 2 for 45.

Punjab Police ready to provide security

Meanwhile, the Punjab Police is ready to provide security during the match.

IGP Punjab Rao Abdul Kareem has said that foolproof security will be provided to the players and spectators as over 8,000 police personnel and officers will be deployed for the purpose.

Besides that, he has added, security has been further tightened along the route the teams will take to reach the stadium, the hotels they are staying in and in and around the Qaddafi Stadium. “CCTV cameras installed along the route and snipers positioned on rooftops will help the law-enforcement agencies in providing complete security,” he elaborated.

“Personnel of Dolphin Squad and Elite Police Force will increase patrolling the areas surrounding the stadium during the match in order to keep an eye on suspicious persons.

He asked police jawans to be polite towards the spectators besides requesting the latter to cooperate with the former so that there could be no disturbance during the match.
