A strong earthquake measuring 5.0 on Richter scale with a depth of 175 km jolted Islamabad and several other cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The epicentre of the earthquake was in Hindukush region of Afghanistan.

The earthquake tremors were felt in Bajaur, Nowshera, Takhtbhai and Khyber district.

People rushed out of their offices, markets, schools and homes reciting Holy Quran verses as the earthquake unnerved them.
