‘Serial rapist’ arrested in Islamabad

Islamabad police on Monday arrested an alleged serial rapist-cum-robber who was involved in the rape of more than 20 women, including a police commando, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The police have been searching for the suspect for more than two years. He snatched money, jewellery and mobile phones from women after raping them.
Rural Zone Superintendent of Police (SP) Rana Wahab confirmed that accused Zaheer Ahmad had admitted to raping more than 20 women after looting them.
The SP said that the accused disclosed hunting ladies walking alone on the roads spraying on their mouth to the unconscious and then took them into bushes in the suburban area of Koral in Islamabad.
He further said that the accused was also involved in the rape of a lady police commando when she was returning home from duty in the same area. The accused raped her two years ago after making her unconscious. He said the police was in search of the accused since then.
Local police got five-day physical remand of the accused and started investigations. Inspector General (IG) Qazi Jamil ur Rehman and SSP Operations Mustafa Tanveer also announced appreciation certificates with cash prizes for the police officers who arrested the serial rapist.
