PTA suspends registration of mobile devices

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced a temporary suspension of mobile device registration, citing scheduled system maintenance. The authority shared the update through an official post on social media on Thursday.

According to the PTA, the Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS)—the platform used for registering and verifying mobile devices—will remain unavailable from 10 pm on Saturday, December 6, until the evening of Sunday, December 7.

The suspension, PTA clarified, is being carried out in line with the procedure laid down by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

PTA has advised the public to plan accordingly and avoid attempting registrations during the specified downtime. Normal operations of DIRBS are expected to resume once the maintenance work is completed on Sunday evening.

The temporary outage is aimed at improving system performance and ensuring smoother, more secure services for mobile users across the country.
