♦ Nepra has notified and increased the price of per unit electricity by Rs1.72. With this increase, the price of one unit of electricity has reached Rs18.16 per unit from Rs16.44. Consumers will have to bear the additional burden of Rs90billion.

♦ A Pakistan Army soldier was martyred in exchange of fire with alleged terrorists in North Waziristan's Ghariuom area. Troops responded promptly to the attack, while Sepoy Muhammad Amir Iqbal, 30, was martyred in the ensuing exchange of fire.

♦ Pandora Papers exposes big names in Pakistani politics; Four companies of Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen have come to light; the son of former Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Waqar Masood's offshore company has also surfaced and Federal Minister Faisal Vawda also owned an offshore company. Offshore companies of Khusro Bakhtiar's family, Arif Naqvi, President National Bank Arif Usmani, Axact owner Shoaib Sheikh have also surfaced and their names are included in the Pandora Papers inclining the 700 Pakistanis named in the papers.

♦ Pandora Papers show a London apartment in the name of the wife of General (retd) Shafatullah Shah, offshore companies owned by Col (retd) Raja Nadir Parvez and Maj Gen (retd) Nusrat Naeem; Lt Gen (retd) Ali Quli Khan’s sister Shahnaz Sajjad Ahmad also has an offshore company; the sons of former Air Chief Abbas Khattak, Umar and Ahad Khattak, also own an offshore company

♦ PM announced a probe into Pakistanis named in Pandora Papers. He said that Pandora Papers exposed the illicit wealth of elites. Sh Rasheed says nothing new in Pandora Papers and PM’s decision has shut the mouths of all the critics. He said there were no talks with the Taliban and talks would be held with only those who would lay down the weapons 

♦ The Pandora Papers named several leaders from around the world, including King Abdullah of Jordan, the offshore companies of Qatari rulers, and the offshore companies named after former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and the presidents of Ukraine, Kenya, and Ecuador. The prime ministers of the Czech Republic and Lebanon also have offshore companies.

♦ Another fake entry of former prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif's vaccination --- Nawaz Sharif was vaccinated against coronavirus from Narowal Public School on September 22.

♦ Fawad Ch says the government to charge TV channels for Parliament proceedings feed on the PTV. Chairman Senate STandin Committee Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar questioned that when the private channels are not allowed then how they would cover the proceedings. Upon this, Fawad said it was not in his power to allow the coverage of the parliament session.

♦ A resolution was submitted in Punjab Assembly demanding the resignation of Information Minister Fawad Ch over fake propaganda on the government’s channel regarding offshore companies of Maryam Safdar’s son Junaid Safdar.

♦ British MP Naz Shah met with Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar in Lahore and discussed the Kashmir issue and other issues including overseas issues. The Governor appreciated Naz Shah and other British MPs for raising voices for Kashmiris and Palestinians. Naz said that Modi is the killer of Kashmir and Indian Muslims, the world must take strong notice

♦ The Supreme Court (SC) threw out the petition, seeking contempt of court proceedings against National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (R) Javed Iqbal saying it was inadmissible for hearing. Advocate Ahsan Abid had filed the petition for not completing the inquiry against Federal Minister Khusro Bakhtiar.

♦ King of comedy Umar Sharif’s funeral prayers will be offered today at a Turkish mosque after the Zuhr prayer at Germany Standard Time (GMT+2) in Nuremberg Germany.

♦ The fourth wave of coronavirus continues to decline in Pakistan as the positivity ratio reduced to 2.84%. Pakistan reported 27 more coronavirus deaths and 1,490 new cases that emerged during the last 24 hours (Sunday).

♦ Dengue war continues in the country as 44 more cases are confirmed in Islamabad taking the tally to 571 while 36 new cases of dengue have been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the total tally reached 1,662 including 20 new patients in Peshawar.

♦ A flimsy script was unveiled behind the killing of a police informer in Karachi; The accused pretended to be an officer to get the informant killed at the hands of the police. SHO’s friend Fauzia arranged the meeting of the fake officer with Haroon Korai who asked him to kill the informer. The police took Fazal to a secluded place and killed him. CTD unearthed the murder through a toll plaza receipt. Fauzia, SHO Haroon Korai, and Iftikhar arrested 

♦ Punjab Cabinet goes paperless. From the next session, proceedings of the provincial cabinet will be digitalized. Ministers will be provided electronic tabs instead of papers. Departments will also send digital agendas to the cabinet.

♦ Lahore Police arrested eight foreign nationals involved in drugs trafficking

♦ The dollar continues the upward trend as on US dollar reaches Rs170.72 after an increase of 24 paisas.

♦ Sindh High Court summons Deputy Governor State Bank and Security and Exchange Commission in a petition seeking a ban on digital currency Crypto

♦ At least nine people have died after tropical cyclone Shaheen battered parts of Iran and Oman.

♦ Acclaimed singer Masood Rana's 26th death anniversary today. Masood started his career in 1962 and recorded over 700 songs. 

♦ Action and sci-fiction film Venom has been released and earned &90 million in the first week of its release.
