FIA nabs four suspects for stealing bank data

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cybercrime Circle Karachi has arrested four suspects for stealing bank data by luring account-holders with prize lottery scheme, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

According to FIA officials, the accused used to draw money by stealing bank accounts data of Pakistani and foreign citizens.

The FIA authorities said that the accused were involved in an online financial fraud lottery scheme.

The accused were luring the citizens that they can win lottery of thousands of euros, dirhams and Pakistani rupees.

The accused were running an illegal call centre from Gulshan Mimar and Kaniz Fatima Society Gulzar Hijri, said the FIA officials.

The accused used to steal valuable bank account data of Pakistani and foreign citizens through "spoof calls". The accused were using the stolen data for their own wrong purposes, they said

The officials said that the accused were used to transfer fraudulent money from citizens of Pakistan and Arab countries through internet banking.

The accused used to search the contact list of locals and foreigners through the online application "Friends Search for WhatsApp", the officials revealed.

They said that the 9-member group of the accused has so far defrauded many nationals and foreigners.

FIA raided the illegal call center located in Gulshan Mimar and arrested 4 suspects nam Zeeshan, Bahar Ali, Salman and Idris.

Mobile phones, laptops and other equipment and devices have been recovered from the possession of the accused. Said FIA authorities.

They said raids are being conducted in search of other accomplices of the accused.

However, the arrested accused have been sent to judicial remand by FIA Cybercrime circle.
