Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, who was diagnosed with coronavirus on Sunday, has been hospitalised as a precautionary measure.

Taking to Instagram, Akshay Kumar posted: “Thank you everyone for all your warm wishes and prayers, they seem working. I am doing fine, but as a precautionary measure under medical advice, I have been hospitalised. “I hope to be back home soon. Take care.”

The actor was tested positive for the virus five days after starting the shoot of his action adventure drama "Ram Setu". Earlier on Sunday, Akshay said he has immediately isolated himself after he was diagnosed with Covid-19.

The coronavirus situation in India remained grim as over 1 lakh new infections were recorded, the highest single-day rise since the pandemic began.

India reports 1,03,558 new coronavirus cases, 52,847 discharges, and 478 deaths in the past 24 hours, as per the Union Health Ministry. India's total cases are now at 1,25,89,067. Total recoveries at 1,16,82,136; active cases are 7,41,830 and the death toll has climbed to 1,65,101.
