Major raid on petrol pump uncovers massive fuel hoarding on GT Road

A major crackdown by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) has led to the recovery of 600,000 litres of hoarded petrol from a filling station in Kharian.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the raid was carried out at Al-Ghani Petrol Pump located on GT Road, where large quantities of fuel had been stored in hidden tankers.

OGRA and PERA officials conducted the operation late at night and successfully seized the stockpile.

Authorities said further investigation has been launched following the raid, with officials examining the network involved in the illegal storage of fuel.

OGRA officials stated that hoarding of petrol under the current difficult circumstances would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

They emphasised that strict action would be taken without discrimination in line with government directives.

Officials from the enforcement authority also warned that no relief would be granted to those involved in hoarding, reiterating their commitment to ensuring fair supply and preventing artificial shortages in the market.

The operation comes amid rising concerns over fuel availability and price hikes, prompting authorities to intensify actions against illegal practices in the petroleum sector.
