The Pakistan People Party (PPP) has raised the demand for a probe into the delay in importing Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
People are questioning as to why the government did not import low-price LNG, former federal minister Qamar Zaman Kaira said.
A media report pointed to misappropriations and delay in the import of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) claiming Adviser to PM on Petroleum Nadeem Babar was telling a lie to hoodwink people. Reportedly, the delay cost Rs2 billion to the country.
Court and National Accountability Bureau should take notice, Kaira demanded and urged PM Imran Khan not to take notice as he (the premier) had inflicted an irreparable loss. He questioned what happened to commissions formed to dig into sugar scam and wheat hoarding served.
Kaira said the rulers have been saying the mafia has not let them deliver when half of their tenure passed. He said the government has to reply to queries no matter what type of words they use. Also, PPP Senator Sherry Rehman called for a parliamentary probe into the delay in import and dearth of gas shortage.
She said that circular debt in the gas sector has reached a shocking figure of Rs350 billion. She said that Pakistan is already going through severe gas shortage and now the government will drop another bomb on people by increasing the gas price to pay for the circular debt. The only thing this government knows how to do is to increase prices, she added.
