Motorways open after improvement in visibility
Several motorways and highways in the central region were reopened to traffic after visibility improved following the lifting of dense fog on Monday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Motorway Police completely reopened Motorway M-3 for all kinds of traffic. Motorways – M-1, M-4 and M-5 were also cleared for traffic as visibility improved.
However, Motorway M-4 from Faisalabad to Multan was closed due to thick fog.
Motorway M-5 from Peshawar to Multan and Motorway M-1 from Swabi to Rashkai up to the point of improved visibility have been opened for traffic movement.
The motorway M-5 from Rahim Yar Khan to Rohri was also closed due to heavy traffic, as thick fog blanketed the area.

With weather conditions improving and visibility returning to acceptable levels, authorities allowed the resumption of traffic on these routes.
Motorway Police urged drivers to remain cautious, adhere to speed limits, and use fog lights where necessary to avoid accidents, especially during early morning and late-night hours.
Drivers were urged to plan their journeys during safer hours, preferably between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm, when visibility conditions generally improve.
For guidance, updates, or emergency assistance, road users have been advised to contact the Motorway Police helpline at 130.
Officials added that traffic flow will continue to be monitored closely, and further advisories will be issued if weather conditions deteriorate again.
Dense fog is a recurring winter hazard in Punjab, especially during December and January, often leading to motorway closures for safety reasons.
The latest reopening follows a fresh weather assessment showing improved visibility levels, making travel safer for light and heavy vehicles.
