Report on educational institutions’ security submitted to Punjab CM

A report on research and measures based on statistics related to the security of educational institutions was submitted to the Chief Minister of Punjab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

According to report, 73 universities of Punjab were classified in the category in terms of security. 

Moreover, 74 colleges of Punjab were included in the A and 2969 in B category.

Similarly, 162 schools were placed in A plus, 4149 in A, while 33,700 schools were placed in B category. 

Formulation and implementation of security SOPs were made mandatory for all educational institutions.

In this regard, mock exercise of CTD was conducted in 162 educational institutions while joint exercises of police and CTD were also conducted in 700 educational institutions. 

Records of installation of boundary walls, barbed wires, and closed circuit cameras of educational institutions were also included in the report.

As many as 145,902 teachers downloaded the public safety app Pink Button. 

Since December 14 last year, the safety app has been installed in 34,269 registered educational institutions.

According to police officials, the Chief Minister of Punjab has issued instructions to further tighten the security of educational institutions. 

Work is underway on completing security arrangements and incomplete SOPs.
