A virtual meeting of provincial education ministers with Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood in the chair on Wednesday decided to commence Class 10 and Class 12 exams first while the fate of Class 9 and Class 11 students will be sealed after reviewing the covid-19 situation.
The provinces are asked to prepare the schedule for Class 10 and 12 at the earliest, sources said, adding that the meeting also decided to take the A-level exam in accordance with the schedule.
Minister rejects rumours
The federal minister rejected rumours that exams of Class 9 and Class 11 would not be commenced.
“The Class 9 and 11 exams will take place according to the timetable of the respective boards. No truth in rumours that they will not be held,” the federal minister said in a tweet.

Last month, the minister said classes of grades 9-12 will begin in affected districts in a staggered manner so students can prepare for their upcoming board exams.
He said Cambridge announced it will not give teacher assessment grades this year hence those not appearing for the exams this semester can do so in October and November. Cambridge also assured that all SOPs will be strictly followed, he tweeted.
