Ex-senator Mushtaq Ahmad is safe, sound, says FO

The Foreign Office (FO) said on Sunday that former senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, who had gone to deliver aid to Gaza on board Global Sumud Flotilla and was presently in Israeli custody, was safe and sound, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

The spokesman for the FO Shafqat Ali Khan said that the government was in touch with the Pakistanis, who had been detained by Israel, through a friendly European country. 

He further said that the former senator would be produced in a court following which he would possibly be extradited to Pakistan. 

The spokesman informed that the return of Pakistanis was being expedited, adding it was hoped that all of them would be back within the next few days.  

He thanked the brotherly Muslim countries for their cooperation in this regard.  

137 social activists reach Turkiye 

As many as 137 social activists, including 36 Turkish citizens, who were travelling on Global Sumud Flotilla and were later detained by the Israeli forces, reached Istanbul on Sunday after having been set free by their captors.  

Other activists belonged to the USA, the UK, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Algeria, Mauritania, Malaysia, Bahrain, Morocco, Switzerland and Tunisia. 

According to the Arab media, over 400 social activists, including former Pakistani senator Mushtaq Ahmad, were still in Israeli custody. 

Despite Israeli aggression, another flotilla, carrying social activists and aid workers, is on its way to Gaza.
