PIA clarifies report about operating chartered flights without passengers

The spokesperson for the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Friday clarified a report regarding an audit para, which said the airline operated flights without passengers.

The PIA spokesperson said this audit para was a draft para and it was about PIA's chartered flights. He said that most of the PIA’s chartered flights were operated to bring back Pakistanis stranded abroad during the Covid period.

He said that chartered flights are generally empty on one side, but one-way passengers using these chartered flights pay the cost of both sides. He said the audit report and figures were written on the basis of a misunderstanding.

This draft (unfinalized) para was dropped or removed after discussions with the auditors, the PIA spokesperson added.
