The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued notices to the political parties which did not hold intra-party elections and directed to hold intra-party elections, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
The ECP said it is necessary to hold intra-party elections as per the Election Commission rules.
The ECP also warned, “Electoral symbols of political parties that do not hold elections will be withdrawn.”
Earlier, ECP had directed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Inam Ghani to remove a senior police official SDPO in Daska, Sialkot, for allegedly interfering in the electoral process related to the by-election on a National Assembly seat scheduled on February 19.
“Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) tehsil Daska, district Sialkot, Zulfiqar Virk is allegedly interfering in the electoral process related to the by-election. SDPO is harassing the contesting candidates and their supporters” the commission said in a statement issued on Thursday.
Last month, the ECP directed the SNGPL to initiate action against its officials found involved in violating the electoral code of conduct in connection with development work in NA-75 Sialkot-IV constituency.
