No rollback of 18th Amendment or NFC award: Shazia Marri
PPP holding a meeting of its Central Executive Committee (CEC) at Bilawal House to discuss proposed 27th Amendment
PPP Information Secretary Shazia Marri said on Thursday that the party would not support any rollback of the 18th Amendment or the NFC Award if the government sought its backing.
Talking to media in Karachi outside the Bilawal House, Shazia Marri said that PPP will never take away the rights given to provinces.
“When it comes to provinces, the PPP has a very clear stance it wants to see the strengthening of the provinces, and it will never take away its rights or agree to proposals that may,” she said.
However, Shazia added that if any constitutional amendments could improve Pakistan’s governance system, enhance institutional performance, the PPP would consider and support such proposals.
Meanwhile, PPP is holding a meeting of its Central Executive Committee (CEC) at the Bilawal House to discuss the proposed 27th Amendment.
The CEC meeting was being chaired by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto while President Zardari, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, Punjab Governor Saleem Haider, Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Mehdi Shah are attending the meeting. Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gilani, KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, Raza Rabbani, Sharjeel Memon, Saeed Ghani, Shazia Marri, Naveed Qamar, Sherry Rehman and Nadeem Afzal Chan are attending the meeting.
