New promotion rules to give ultimate benefit to primary teachers

The Punjab government has effected a change in the promotion rules of approximately 400,000 teachers giving most of the benefit to the primary and middle schools teachers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
As per the new rules, the primary school teacher could be promoted to BS 17 and elementary school teacher to BS 19.
The senior school teacher could be promoted to BS 20 even.
The Punjab Teachers Union hailed the decision of the provincial education board saying with the change in promotion rules, teachers didn’t have to wait for years for their promotion. Earlier, teachers reach their superannuation even in their old grades without getting promotion, the union officials added.
