New US Consul General calls on CM Maryam in Lahore
New US Consul General in Lahore Stetson Sanders called on Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif welcomed Stetson Sanders on his arrival in Lahore and congratulated him on assuming the post of Consul General.
Issues of mutual interest, trade relations, energy cooperation, technology, agriculture and educational exchanges were discussed in detail in the meeting.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif appreciated US President Donald Trump’s efforts to mediate between Pakistan and India.
Talking on the occasion Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that Stetson Sanders’ appointment came at a time when positive progress is being seen in Pakistan-US relations.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif said Pak-US relations are based on a decades-long, trusted, stable and far-reaching partnership.
Public relations, trade cooperation and shared interests have further strengthened the Pak-US partnership, Maryam Nawaz Sharif said.
She said the increase in trade volume between Pakistan and the US in 2024 is a welcome development.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the US is Pakistan’s largest trading partner and a reliable economic partner.
The Pakistani-American community is a strong link in the public relations between the two countries, Maryam Nawaz Sharif said.
I have also met the US Congressional Pakistan Caucus in April 2025, Maryam Nawaz added.
Maryam Nawaz said that more than 20,000 IT graduates are graduating in Punjab every year.
Punjab is the agricultural backbone of Pakistan, Maryam Nawaz said.
The Chief Minister said that the Punjab government is prioritizing water-efficient farming, precision agriculture, and the development of cold chain infrastructure.
She said American agricultural technology companies can take advantage of the numerous investment opportunities in Punjab.
Pakistan and the US are an example of a tested, trusted, and sustainable partnership, Maryam Nawaz said.
Maryam Nawaz said Pakistan is determined to transform the US-Pakistan relationship into a comprehensive, strategic, and public interest-based partnership.
A new electric train equipped with the latest technology is being introduced in Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif said.
