Drought fear looms over Pakistan
The Met office on Friday predicted that possible drought is approaching fast due to continued dry weather and water shortage in low-laying areas of the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
A detailed report compiled in this regard stated that during the current year the country overall received 40 percent less rains while Punjab received 42 percent less rains.
A complete record from September 1, 2024 to January 15, 2025 was already forwarded to Relief Commissioner Punjab Nabeel Javed.
The report showed that most of low-lying areas of Punjab are already facing danger of drought during the current year.
The report further stated that around eight cities of Punjab will experience decrease in availability of water, while four urban areas of Punjab also faced danger of dry weather.
Pakistan is still facing danger of drought during current year as country received less rains.
National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) already directed chief secretary Punjab to take effective measures to tackle the situation.
