Demi Lovato and husband Jutes to celebrate first anniversary

Demi Lovato and her husband Jordan “Jutes” Lutes are already planning something heartfelt and nostalgic to mark their first wedding anniversary, and those close to them say the couple appear more deeply connected than ever.

The milestone date falls on May 25, 2026, and the newlyweds have reportedly been floating the idea of returning to Santa Barbara, California, the coastal spot where they exchanged vows. While attending the Clive Davis pre-Grammy party, the pair were overheard discussing doing something "super special" to honor the occasion, signaling that the romance of their wedding day is still very much alive.

Onlookers at the star-studded event said the couple barely left each other’s side, giving off unmistakable honeymoon energy months after tying the knot.

"They held hands the whole night and were very sweet with each other - there were plenty of kisses," a party guest told Daily Mail.

The same guest described Jutes as openly affectionate and attentive throughout the evening. "He seemed madly in love as he touched her back and patiently waited as she talked to fans. At one point he fetched her a drink and then asked if she needed anything else."

Lovato, 33, was equally doting, according to the eyewitness. "She called him "honey" and "sweetie" a lot and kept smiling at him, then went in for a few kisses. They were clearly the happiest couple in the room."

The guest also noted that Lovato was a magnet for celebrity attention throughout the night. "Heidi Klum, Madison Beer, Darren Criss, they all came up to her and say hello, she seemed popular," the source said, adding that Jutes appeared completely unfazed. "Jutes did not seem to mind that she received so much attention."

Their love story began quietly, rooted in friendship long before romance entered the picture. Lovato and Lutes first met in January 2022 during a songwriting session, where they connected creatively before developing deeper feelings.

Lovato has previously spoken openly about how crucial that friendship was during one of the most difficult periods of her life. She explained that Jutes supported her through a profound emotional low as she emerged from treatment and embraced sobriety.

She told Who What Wear, "We became friends before we became lovers."

Reflecting on that time, she added, "I opened up to him because I was going through a really rough time when I made Holy F***. I had just come out of treatment, and I was newly sober and raw with my emotions. I had nothing to medicate with."

She credited him with being a stabilizing presence, saying, "He was there for me as a friend, helping me get through this deep depression I was in."

Lovato said she first sensed a long-term connection while working on her emotional ballad Happy Ending, even though romance was not yet on the horizon.

She shared, "It's probably one of the most vulnerable songs I've ever made."

At the time, she had no idea where their bond would lead. "I didn't know we were going to become lovers. I definitely didn't know that we were going to get married one day. But that was the session that made me feel safe with him."

Both Lovato and Jutes have been candid about their past struggles with addiction, and that shared understanding has become a cornerstone of their marriage. Jutes, 34, recently spoke about how pivotal Lovato’s support has been in his sobriety journey.

He told People, "It's very, very helpful having the support of Demi."

He admitted how close he came to slipping early on, saying, "Sadly I'm like, I don't know if I would have stuck with it if it wasn't for her, in the beginning. It's obviously the hardest in the beginning and there's still times ... it doesn't ever go away."

He was honest about ongoing temptations, adding, "There's still times where I'll be out and I'm like, 'This would be better if I wasn't sober.'"

Despite those challenges, he said his life has transformed for the better. "It does make me want to go out less now that I'm sober, but my life is just — it's not comparable how much better it is now that I am sober."

Describing his new routine, he concluded, "I mean, I love waking up early and feeding my dogs and meditating and having coffee and doing wholesome stuff and feeling good and going to the gym."

As their first anniversary approaches, all signs point to a couple still firmly in love, grounded by shared history, hard-earned growth, and plans that look firmly toward a lasting future.
