Fire-fighters strive to contain blaze which guts two factories, heading to third
The fire-fighters were still struggling to contain the massive blaze which damaged two factories in Karachi and was now heading to the third one on Saturday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The rescue operation to bring the fire under control was under way even after the passage of 11 hours.
The fire erupted in a plastic factory in Karachi which also engulfed another factory adjacent to the building, located at Export Processing Zone in Karachi.
Chief Fire Officer Hamayun Khan said that 75 percent of the fire had already been brought under control, and the 90 percent fire that broke out in a cloth and shoe godown was also doused.
The Chief Fire Officer said that the intensity of the fire was also low now. He expressed the hope that the complete fire will be brought under control soon, and the cooking process may take a few days.
Officials said a third nearby facility remained unaffected due to the efforts of the fire-fighters and rescue personnel.
More than 20 fire tenders from KMC, the Navy, and Rescue 1122, along with three KMC snorkels, were deployed to the site.

In a late-night statement, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori expressed concern over the factory fire, saying, "It is worrying that it has spread to two more factories."
He said firefighting and safety checks should have been better after the Gul Plaza tragedy and directed authorities to take all steps to stop the fire and ensure proper arrangements in all factories and buildings.
This incident comes days after a fire at Saddar’s mobile market, which was quickly contained.
Last month, the largest fire in more than a decade erupted at Gul Plaza shopping mall on January 17.
