Govt reshuffles bureaucracy, extends key appointments

The federal government has issued a series of notifications announcing appointments, transfers, postings and extensions of contractual appointments of several officers serving in different ministries and departments.

According to notifications issued by the Establishment Division, the contractual appointment of Brigadier (retd) Muzaffar Ali Ranjha as Chairman of the Prime Minister's Inspection Commission has been extended for another two years. The extension will take effect from July 1, 2026, and will remain valid until further orders under the existing terms and conditions.

The government has also extended the appointment of Usman Gul as Director General of the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), Peshawar, for one year with effect from May 15, 2026.

In another order, the services of Aurangzeb Badini, a Grade-18 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service awaiting posting in the Establishment Division, have been transferred to the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), Quetta.

The Establishment Division has also placed the services of Pakistan Army officer Major Tahseen Ahmed Zafar at the National Police Academy for two years. He has been appointed as Deputy Director Physical (BS-18) on a secondment basis with immediate effect until further orders.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Asif Nawaz, a Grade-18 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service awaiting posting, has been appointed as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to benefit from the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program until June 30, 2027.

The government has also approved one month of paid ex-Pakistan leave for Dr. Arshad Mahmood, a Grade-22 Pakistan Administrative Service officer serving as OSD, from July 13 to August 12, 2026. He has been permitted to travel to Canada, with the notification specifying that the Government of Pakistan will bear no foreign exchange liability for his travel or stay abroad.

In addition, the services of Sanaullah, a Grade-19 Pakistan Administrative Service officer serving as OSD, have been transferred to the Cabinet Division.

Separately, Maryam Malik, a Grade-18 Office Management Group officer serving as OSD, has been posted as Section Officer in the Finance Division, while Fazal Naeem, also a Grade-18 Office Management Group officer serving as OSD, has been posted as Section Officer in the Establishment Division.

The Establishment Division issued separate official notifications for all the appointments, transfers and extensions.
