Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab Firdous Ashiq Awan has refused to contest PP38, Sialkot by-poll after the PTI has nominated her for the seat, reported 24News HD TV channel.

The seat has fallen vacant after the death of PML-N MPA Khush Akhtar Subhani. Firdous Ashiq thanked her party for nominating her but she refused to contest the election on the provincial assembly seat. She said although this was her constituency, but she was preparing to contest the national assembly seat in 2023 so would not take part in the provincial assembly seat election. She said instead of contesting the by-election, she would focus to strengthen the party in the constituency. She said that they were not contesting the by-election of PP 38.
