Afghan refugees stage protest near Diplomatic Enclave

A group of Afghan refugee staged a protest on Embassy Road and tried to enter the Diplomatic Enclave. However, the police stopped them from moving to Red Zone area, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
The protesting refugees wanted to go back to Afghanistan. Al large number of women and children were taking part in the demonstration. The protesters and police also shoveled each other.
The Afghan nationals rued that Afghan land had been closed on them.
“Our educational institutions have been wrecked. Our accounts have been frozen. We expected that human rights organizations and other international entities would fight our case. We have been sitting on Islamabad roads since April 18 but nobody came to hold talks with us,” they deplored.
The Afghan protesters demanded of the international community to help their country so that they could go back and live there. “If it’s not possible, then send us to other foreign countries or give us the right of Pakistan citizenship,” they added.
City Assistant Commissioner Aneel Saeed said that the Afghan refugees were either demanding to send them abroad or give them Pakistani citizenship. They are not ready to listen to any other suggestion, the AC added.
