Travelling in Punjab becomes secure as 'panic button system' introduced

What can be termed an important step taken by the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, ‘CM Punjab Panic Button System’ has been introduced in order to make passengers travelling in rickshaws, buses, vans and taxis safe, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

People will be able to get the button installed free of cost by downloading it from Safe City website or through public safety app.

While transport safety systems introduced in rest of the world offer limited facilities, the Punjab government has clubbed together 12 features, including call, video call, live chat, location sharing and verification of the vehicle in one button.

Passengers will be able to make a direct contact with the Safe Cities Authority with the help of the button in emergencies, and that the Safe City control room will immediately receive a passenger’s live location and the vehicle’s data.

Timely response in such emergencies will be ensured.
