OGRA clarifies reports about fuel shortage

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Saturday clarified that there is no shortage of petrol in the country and that adequate supplies of petroleum products are available.

According to an OGRA spokesperson, the recent rush at petrol pumps occurred because many people tried to purchase larger quantities of fuel amid speculation about possible price changes.

The spokesperson said that there is currently ample supply of both petrol and diesel across the country and the situation in the market has now returned to normal. “The rumors circulating earlier have died down and the chaos at petrol pumps has ended,” the spokesperson added.

OGRA officials stated that petrol pumps across the country are being closely monitored to ensure a smooth supply of fuel. Oil marketing companies are also under strict observation to prevent any disruption in the supply chain.

The regulatory authority has urged citizens to immediately report any petrol pumps involved in creating artificial shortages, hoarding fuel or overcharging customers.

OGRA reiterated that strict action will be taken against any elements found violating regulations or attempting to exploit consumers.
