Dengue cases surge in Multan following heavy rainfall

The recent spell of rainfall in Multan has triggered a sharp increase in dengue cases across the city, with hospitals reporting a growing number of patients suffering from the mosquito-borne viral infection, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.  

According to health officials, the post-rain conditions have created ideal breeding grounds for Aedes aegypti carrier mosquitoes, leading to a noticeable spike in dengue infections.

Within the past 24 hours, nine new dengue cases have been confirmed at Nishtar Hospital, raising the total number of patients receiving treatment in the hospital’s reserved dengue ward to 11.

Doctors also reported that two additional patients have been admitted with suspected symptoms of dengue and are currently under observation while their test results are awaited.

Health authorities said that the rise in cases is not limited to public hospitals, as several private healthcare facilities in Multan have also begun reporting dengue patients.

Officials at Nishtar Hospital confirmed that all confirmed dengue patients are being provided with appropriate medical care and monitoring.

They also emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and treatment to prevent complications.
