The federal government has refused to withdraw the services of Punjab Police IG Punjab Faisal Shahkar, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.

The Centre has ordered the Punjab police chief to continue working.

The Punjab government wrote a letter for withdrawing the services of IGP Faisal Shahkar.

The provincial cabinet has expressed distrust in the IGP, the circular states, adding that in the current situation, IGP should be called back to the Centre.

According to sources, the withdrawal of Shahkar’s service is not under the Centre’s consideration.

A couple of days ago, Faisal Shahkar wrote a letter to the federal government for withdrawing his services as the Punjab police chief.  

The sources said the federal government has ordered the top cop to continue working.
