Attock Assistant Commissioner Ijaz Abdul Kareem Thursday took timely action to thwart the smuggling of wheat and confiscated 600 sacks of wheat, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Alleged smugglers were arrested and handed over to the police for further investigation.

Food department teams along with the Assistant Commissioner Tehsil Pindi Gheb in Attock conducted a raid near CPEC road on Thursday and stopped five trucks at Kharpa interchange which were carrying wheat. 

Attock district administration team asked drivers to show documents related to wheat transportation but they did not have the documents. 

After that, the AC ordered police to arrest drivers on the spot for further investigation, foiling the bid of smuggling wheat. The authorities seized 600 sacks of wheat weighing a total of 4000 maunds wheat.

Moreover, instructions were issued to food department officials to pursue further legal action.
