IHC amends judicial service rules, allows judges’ transfer to other high courts

The Islamabad High Court has approved an amendment to the Islamabad Judicial Service Rules 2011, allowing district judiciary judges to be transferred to the jurisdiction of other high courts.

The amendment was approved by the chief justice of the Islamabad High Court on the recommendation of the court’s administrative committee.

Under the amended rules, the Islamabad High Court now has administrative control over transfers of district judiciary judges.

Following the amendment, judges serving in Islamabad’s district judiciary can be transferred to the administrative jurisdiction of another high court.

The government has also issued a gazette notification amending the Islamabad Judicial Service Rules 2011.

The IHC registrar has sent copies of the amendment to the presidents of the Islamabad High Court Bar Association and the District Bar Association.
