Karachi Mayor’s office gutted as fire erupts in KMC building

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab's office was completely gutted and record destroyed after a fire erupted in the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) head office on Tuesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to details, the fire department said the blaze started in a kitchen adjacent to the mayor's office at the KMC head office.

Soon after receiving the report, Rescue teams rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.

Earlier on September 7, 2026, a fire broke out at an old-clothes factory in Karachi’s Landhi Export Processing Zone (EPZ).

The blaze later spread to an adjacent factory, while part of the original factory building also collapsed, a Rescue 1122 spokesperson said.

According to fire brigade officials, the factory comprised a ground floor and two upper storeys. 

The fire initially broke out on the ground floor before spreading to the upper floors. Officials said the smoke was particularly intense, with firefighting operations being conducted from outside the building. but no loss of life was reported from the site of the incident so far.
