Nine dacoits killed, DSP couple injured in Shikarpur joint operation

Nine dacoits were killed while two senior police officers injured during a joint operation launched by Rangers and police in Shikarpur District of Sindh on Tuesday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The joint operation was initiated in Manchhar Shah area in the jurisdiction of Store Gang Police Station during which dacoits used rocket-launchers to attack a police mobile van.

DSP City Madam Paras Bakhrani, her husband DSP Garhi Yaseen, and two other police personnel were seriously injured in the firing by dacoits. During the intense firefight, security personnel were able to kill nine dacoits.

More police and Rangers reinforcements armed with drones and armoured personnel carriers (APCs) have been rushed to the site as panic spread in the area after the rocket-launcher attack by the dacoits. 

Three of the slain dacoits were identified as Shahzad Sheikh, Shahmoor Sheikh and Imdad Sheikh.

The injured DSPs and two other policemen were shifted to a private hospital in Sakkar for medical treatment.

The security personnel have cordoned off the Manchhar Shah area and its suburbs, and manhunt was also under way to trace fleeing dacoits.

Two dacoits injured in Khairpur

Two dacoits were arrested in an injured condition during a police encounter in Khairpur. The police team received information that some armed dacoits were committing robbery near Rashdi Gate, near the banana fields.

After noticing the police team, the dacoits started firing, during which two dacoits received serious bullet injuries.

The injured dacoits were identified as Akhtiar and Abid. Police also recovered a pistol and bullets from their custody.

Police said that these dacoits were facilitators of the Kucha dacoits. They were collecting extortion money from people after phone calls from kucha dacoits.
