A love story from Kangangpur has defeated the centuries-old hatred and so-called society norms and values against love.

An 80-year-old man named Attar Mio of Manurian village in Kanganpur tied the knot with 75-year-old Naziran Bibi, the love interest of his youth days.

Attar Mio loved Naziran Bibi in his teenage but he could not fulfill his wish due to families’ staunch resistance. But he did not give up, as days and nights passed with every decade and at last in 2021 he again extended a proposal to the same Naziran, who is now 75 years old.

This time, families of both sides did not raise any objection and rather participated with pomp and show in the walima function and celebrated their wedding which happened 50 years after the first attempt. 

Attar recalled the time when he proposed and promised Naziran to marry her but as the anger grew from both families, he had to give up at that time.

Now, at a sober ceremony in Hashimpur Mohallah in Kangangpur both the ageing love birds tied the knot and were happy on their union, even though it took over 50 long years.

Kangangpur is a town of Chunian tehsil in district Kasur and located 115 kilometres away from Lahore. It is a frontier town adjoining the Indian city Firozpur from east and Okara from west.
