Transgender person shot dead in Peshawar Plaza

Unidentified armed men shot dead a transgender person in a plaza in Peshawar late Tuesday night and fled, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

The armed men targeted the transgender person, identified as Assad alias Asady, in a room of the United Plaza located in Tahatkal Police Station limits and then fled from the crime scene.

According to preliminary investigation, Assad was a resident of Charsadda.

After receiving the information, the police reached the site and shifted the dead body to a hospital for medico-legal proceedings.

The police officials also collected evidence from the crime scene and launched a probe from all angles to ascertain the motive and trace the killers.

Police said Assad had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body and skull, which proved fatal.

The incident comes just a week after another transgender person, known as Titli, was murdered in Peshawar’s Gulbahar area. Police said that case has now been solved.

Titli, whose real name was Farman, was killed on July 1. The motive behind the killing, according to police, stemmed from a dispute over a personal relationship.
