Jhang student rape and death declared a high profile case

Punjab Prosecutor General Syed Farhad Ali Shah has taken strict notice of the alleged rape of a student in Jhang district and her subsequent death during treatment, declaring the case a high-profile matter.

In view of the seriousness and public importance of the incident, the prosecutor general immediately summoned the complete record of the case along with the investigating officer.

According to sources, the student was allegedly raped and later shifted to a hospital in critical condition. She succumbed to her injuries after remaining under treatment for several days.

The incident has sparked serious concern in the area, while members of the public and social circles have demanded strict action against those responsible.

Shah directed the concerned officers to complete the investigation on merit, with transparency and in accordance with all legal requirements. He stressed that a strong and effective case should be prepared against the accused by taking into account all available evidence, forensic reports and other legal requirements to ensure effective presentation before the court.

The prosecutor general said crimes against women and children are of a very serious nature and that no negligence can be tolerated in such cases. He made it clear that no accused person would be allowed to escape the law and that all available legal resources would be utilized to ensure punishment in accordance with the law.

He stated that the prosecution department would continuously monitor the case and, in full coordination with investigating agencies, ensure that no obstacle hinders the delivery of justice to the victim's family.

The prosecutor general also directed the relevant authorities to keep him regularly informed about the progress of the investigation and to prepare a strong challan based on evidence to facilitate effective legal action against the accused.

Reaffirming his commitment to justice, Shah said the timely delivery of justice and punishment of criminals in accordance with the law is the state's foremost responsibility and that all legal requirements would be fulfilled to ensure justice in this case.
